Summary
Experienced mobile-core/software architect with 9 years of experience primarily in design, protocol
stacks, programming, verification and mobile solutions consulting.
MS (EE) in wireless data communications with major in systems design and coding, TCP/IP protocol suite
including QoS, congestion management and queuing strategies.
SME on topics related to packet core (CDMA, 2G/3G/4G-LTE), SON, Wifi, Wifi offload, IMS, VoLTE, VoWifi,
analytics (core and Wifi), clients and client software, policy, RAN optimization and analytics, ANDSF, SDN,
elastic cloud etc.
Hands on experience with 3G/4G traffic modeling, mathematical modeling of SGSN router boards, and
performance analysis of wireless mesh networks.
3GPP GSM, UMTS, HSPA and LTE standards. Good understanding and familiarity with 3GPP2 CDMA 1x, Rev
A and eHRPD standards.
Experience
NetScout Systems (Pre-sales Consultant, North-east)
Sept 2013 – present
Pre-sales role covering customers in the NE region. Responsibilities not only include selling existing NetScout
products, but also positioning new products in the Wifi/VoLTE/LTE-EPC/Big-Data/etc. monitoring and
performance space.
Cisco Systems (Mobile-core Consultant, MITG)
Feb 2011 – Sept 2013
Work as a pre-sales consultant for Tier-2/3 operators all over the US, helping operators grow and invest in
the “next big thing”, technology forecasting and providing technical leadership all the way through
deployment. Also served as a SME for VoIP, SIP, Diameter, IP-Multimedia Subsystem(IMS) network, 3GPP
LTE/EPS, VOLTE, RCS and entities i.e. Call Session Control Function(P/S/I-CSCF), HSS, IBCF, BGCF, MRFC,
MRFP etc. Some of my work included:
- Help write RFI’s covering topics around the Intucell (SON) acquisition viz. cell outage detection &
compensation, ANR, automatic load balancing etc.
- Worked closely with PLM on RAN aware traffic management, RAN aware wifi offload
management etc.
- Help architect small cell deployment scenarios using femotocells, pico/metrocells,
metro/microcells, metro/micro/wifi, metro/wifi etc.
- Upgrade and expansion of existing CDMA network based on demographics and traffic profiles,
revenue of additional USD 35M (metroPCS)
- Scoping of a new LTE network by leveraging existing CDMA investment, which included S-PGW,
MME, DPI, header enrichment, video optimization, tethering, Gx/Gy design (based on Amdocs
PCRF), DPI, etc., a proposal worth USD 48M (MetroPCS)
- Conducting multiple lab tests related to LTE, policy (Amdocs PCRF+DRAs), DPI, performance, multivendor
environments etc. (MetroPCS)
- Help pre-architect an MME solution, and conduct lab trials in an effort to displace Huawei, ALU
and Ericsson (Cricket)
-
Technical architect on multiple RFPs/RFIs
- DPI and Gx/Gy performance issues (multiple operators)
-
-
Technical proposal for a Satellite based eHRPD – voice(IMS with a combined P-CSCF+PGW) and
data network, possible revenue USD 2-20M. Also worked closely with the Small Cell BU for a
possible opportunity to build customized hardware for LTE band 17
Lead multiple RFPs for SP-Wifi, Wifi offload, HS2.0, LIPA, SIPTO etc. opportunities involving multiple
ASR5ks/1k/9k, policy, DPI etc, expected revenue USD 50M
Managed 45 customers nationwide and not only helped them with their day-to-day requirements, but
also assisted them in moving towards their desired access technologies. Provided coverage for a large
variety of customers with all different sorts of access viz. GSM, CDMA, UMTS, LTE, Wifi, IMS/VoLTE
Ericsson (Solutions Architect)
Jun 2008 – Feb 2011
Designed solutions, worked closely with sales and BD, conducted mathematical modeling and wrote
classification and verification use cases, helped forecast the growth, IPv6 protocol stack testing, routing
and QoS, mobile packet backbone design and dimensioning, network performance audits and
performance improvements for Ericsson’s 3G/4G products and solutions.
